Role ResponsibilitiesThe Science Center Program Associate will take on the role of instructor, program facilitator, and host within various offerings at Timber-Lee, including summer camps, retreats, and outdoor educational experiences. This position involves planning and executing both pre and post-program activities, as well as participating in camp-wide initiatives to maintain and enhance our facilities and resources.
- Lead engaging activities and classes focused on natural history, environmental sciences, and resource management.
- Contribute to the development of educational materials, including curriculum guides, class resources, and visual displays for all Science Center programs.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and infrastructure, as well as participate in land management efforts.
- Support the hosting of various groups visiting the camp.
- Engage in additional camp-wide tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Spiritual Requirements
- Must be a professing Christian, committed to the Biblical truths outlined in our Statement of Faith.
- Support Timber-Lee's mission and core values, demonstrating a commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character reflective of biblical teachings.
- Exhibit a genuine love for the Lord and a desire to help others grow in their faith.
Organizational Skills
- Align with and support Timber-Lee's ministry philosophy and policies.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Possess strong communication skills with the ability to effectively teach and lead.
- Understand the dynamics of teamwork and exhibit accountability within a collaborative environment.
- Have a passion for engaging with people, a curiosity for learning, and a sense of adventure.
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
Position Requirements
- Live on-site in shared dormitory-style accommodations.
- A college degree is required, preferably in education, natural sciences, ecology, environmental studies, or related fields.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over a distance of at least 50 feet.
- Experience working with and caring for small animals used in educational settings, including birds, small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Capable of performing a mix of indoor and outdoor tasks.
- Able to work on your feet for extended periods.
- Comfortable in an environment with potential allergens that may affect work performance.
- Ability to navigate the diverse terrain of the campground throughout all seasons.
- Field experience in biology, ecology, or natural resource management is advantageous.
Note: Candidates must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire to be considered for this position.
