The Opportunity

The Vice President of Data & Analytics will define and implement HBP's data strategy, data management, and analytics initiatives to support the organization's product and business strategy. This role will transform our data capabilities, enhance personalization, deliver client insights, and drive innovation through data-driven decision making. The VP will work closely with senior leaders to align data initiatives with business goals, leveraging HBP's unique vantage point across academic, corporate, and consumer audiences to transform operations and create value for customers.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Strategy Development: Define HBP's data strategy, outlining how we will use data to increase internal efficiency, generate new value for customers, and gain a competitive advantage.
  2. Create a 3-year roadmap of strategic data initiatives aligned with the strategy.

Data Analysis and Leadership:

  1. Lead a distributed team of data analysts across HBP's three business units.
  2. Develop a standardized approach to generating insights from our data, considering AI technology advancements and opportunities for automation and self-service.
  3. Partner with IT and business unit leaders to enable better sales, marketing, and service delivery outcomes using high-value data.
  4. Collaborate with Product Development leaders to drive data collection within product experiences and ensure visibility of customer behavior for prioritization.
  5. Work with HR to develop data literacy, expand analytics capabilities across the organization, and support data-driven decision making.

Data Management and Engineering:

  1. Lead a team of data architects and engineers supporting and enhancing HBP's data foundation (built on the Snowflake data platform).
  2. Oversee the collection, storage, and management of high-value data about customers, content, and interactions across product, sales, marketing, and service delivery.
  3. Implement best practices for data warehousing, ingestion, and governance to support improved customer experience and actionable insights.
  4. Partner with IT and Risk & Compliance leaders to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.

AI and ML Engineering:

  1. Build a team of AI Architects, Data Scientists, and ML Engineers to develop AI capabilities supporting personalization, content recommendation, and contextualization features.
  2. Partner with Product Development leaders to define and execute the strategic roadmap of data collection and data-driven product features.
  3. Collaborate with Data & AI leadership at Harvard Business School to leverage shared resources, infrastructure, and data to support HBP's priorities.

You'll Bring:

  1. 15+ years of experience in data analytics or data engineering leadership.
  2. A proven track record of developing data strategies, translating strategy into a roadmap for implementation, overseeing execution, and delivering measurable business results.
  3. Experience designing and implementing data infrastructure and platforms to support data science and analytics outcomes.
  4. A proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  5. A strong understanding of data governance and security.
