The Fund for Public Health in New York City is a leading organization dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. In partnership with the New York City Health Department, we incubate innovative public health initiatives to improve community health throughout the city.

Program Overview

The Enhancing Quality in Childcare through Developmental Screening (EQCCDS) project aims to increase developmental screenings in non-DOE childcare programs located in 23 zip codes in Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods with low referral rates to the Early Intervention Program. Our goal is to integrate developmental screenings into childcare programs, identify children with potential disabilities or delays, and help families access early intervention services.

Position Overview

The EI-Early Childhood Education Specialist reports to the BEI Quality Child Care Director and is responsible for conducting professional development trainings, coaching, and technical assistance to childcare programs on integrating developmental screenings into their practice. This includes training on topics such as Ages and Stages Questionnaire 3, trauma-informed approaches, and inclusive practices.

Responsibilities
  • Represent early intervention as a liaison to childcare centers and their staff.
  • Provide in-person and virtual trainings to childcare programs.
  • Offer coaching and technical assistance on early childhood, developmental screenings, early intervention, referrals, and inclusive practices.
  • Effectively manage a caseload and correlated files.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with childcare programs and their staff.
