Job Summary

As a Dialysis Nurse at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment. Our dialysis team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to patients with end-stage renal disease, and we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Assess daily dialysis patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes for the dialysis patient.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of dialysis treatments and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to include collection of data for the dialysis unit's Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan and maintain ownership of regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels.
  • Work with internal and external resources to maintain machine maintenance and partnership with home dialysis departments.
  • Perform surveillance and testing of dialysis water treatment equipment and dialysis water (such as chlorine, pH, water cultures) to ensure that these machines are operating within the parameters set within the manufacturer guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of dialysis laboratory tests and dialysis medications.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence and knowledge in cannulation of dialysis access and proper care and use of central lines.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of infection control and prevention of transmission of blood borne pathogens.
  • Provide patient education/teaching applicable to the patient's medical condition.
  • May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing, and evaluating staff.
Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Minimum one year of registered nurse experience.
