This position supports a flexible work model, allowing for three days in the office and two days of remote work each week.

As a Cost Management Analyst, you will leverage your analytical expertise to fulfill project team and client requirements for assessing project performance, conducting financial analysis, and creating budget forecasts. This role involves close collaboration with project management, client representatives, and other stakeholders to monitor, predict, and report on financial aspects related to engineering, procurement, and construction activities within energy transmission and distribution initiatives. Utilizing various industry-standard and proprietary software tools, and under the guidance of the project lead, your responsibilities will include:
  • Tracking and reporting on financial control metrics; establishing and maintaining budgets, regularly updating actual expenditures, and coordinating with project leads for accruals and forecasts.
  • Applying project control methodologies and tools.
  • Creating cost projection graphs based on anticipated expenses, aligned with projected milestones in the comprehensive project timelines.
  • Compiling necessary documentation to address project team and client inquiries.
  • Interpreting data and generating reports to facilitate project oversight and decision-making.
  • Regularly collaborating with scheduling experts and project management to assist in monitoring progress and performance reporting.
  • Calculating Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI) using earned value management principles.
  • Occasionally visiting client offices or project sites for coordination meetings, performance assessments, and stakeholder engagement.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Capability to design and execute a financial tracking and monitoring system with engagement from all key stakeholders.
  • Expertise in financial analysis techniques and reporting.
  • Proficiency in managing diverse data types and navigating software platforms.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and multitask with project team members, clients, and vendors across various levels.
  • Motivation: Keen to acquire new skills and expand knowledge to contribute meaningfully to project team operations. Willing to collaborate with others to comprehend project team requirements. Committed to delivering high-quality, precise outputs with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly advanced capabilities in MS Excel and/or MS Access for developing detailed, interactive spreadsheets and workbooks.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an ABET-accredited program, ideally with a focus on Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant internship, co-op, or work experience, preferably within the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with SAP business software integrations.
  • Experience utilizing various conditional aggregation and lookup functions in MS Excel.
  • AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certification.
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
