Key ResponsibilitiesThe Heavy-Duty Mechanic Apprentice will be responsible for:
- Conducting routine maintenance checks, including evaluating vehicle performance and fluid levels, changing oil and filters, and diagnosing mechanical problems.
- Assisting experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics with intricate repair tasks.
- Following safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Learning to utilize diagnostic tools and interpret results to resolve mechanical issues.
- Dismantling and reassembling heavy machinery as needed.
- Repairing or replacing damaged or worn components.
- Performing cleaning, lubrication, and other routine maintenance on equipment and dump trucks.
- Inspecting parts for signs of damage or excessive wear.
- Diagnosing faults or malfunctions to determine necessary repairs.
- Testing mechanical products and equipment post-repair to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications.
- Operating and inspecting machines or heavy equipment to identify defects.
- Executing service repairs and maintenance on mobile equipment and crushing plants.
Applicants should possess:
- The ability to read and comprehend operating manuals, blueprints, and technical schematics.
- Experience in performing repairs and maintenance with specialized tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, and air brake systems.
We are looking for individuals who are proactive, possess strong communication skills, and are eager to learn. This position involves physical labor and is well-suited for those who enjoy hands-on work and have a genuine interest in mechanics.
