Job Overview

Position Title: Academic Advisor I

SUMMARY
The role of the Academic Advisor I is to provide essential guidance to students regarding their educational trajectories, academic achievements, career options, and various academic endeavors, ensuring they meet their educational aspirations and successfully complete their programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and execute a comprehensive counseling program tailored for the educational institution.
  • Effectively communicate program objectives to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with educators to implement strategic guidance initiatives.
  • Offer insights on academic and career development.
  • Facilitate workshops on financial assistance and college admissions.
  • Organize events focused on career exploration and job information.
  • Coordinate college information sessions and student excursions.
  • Engage with social service organizations for additional support.
  • Assist students in creating personalized academic plans alongside Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors.
  • Review student academic records and oversee course schedules.
  • Investigate mental health resources to mitigate challenges faced by students.
  • Provide both individual and group counseling services.
  • Collaborate with educators and community resources to address student needs.
  • Refer students to external services for specialized support.
  • Support student behavior management initiatives.

SUPERVISORY ROLE
No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in an advising capacity is necessary.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
A valid driver's license and personal automobile insurance are required. The ability to travel as necessary is essential.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be capable of performing essential job functions, which include walking, lifting, and using hands and arms effectively.

WORK SETTING
This position primarily operates within a classroom environment and may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
