Job Overview

This role encompasses a variety of tasks related to the upkeep, servicing, installation, repair, and inspection of machinery, heavy equipment, and electrical systems within industrial environments to ensure optimal functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues ranging from minor to significant with machinery and equipment.
  • Disassemble, repair, and/or replace components of equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct tests to verify that machinery operates efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery, including the installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical systems such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, steam valves, and various production machines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and lubrication of machinery.
  • Execute basic diagnostic evaluations to assess machinery performance.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools, including rulers, calipers, and micrometers, to assess dimensional changes.
  • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files as required.
  • Unload, inspect, and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, and trucks.
  • Employ rigging and hoisting equipment, such as chokers and chain falls, to maneuver materials into place.
  • Adhere to directives from supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Proficient in electrical, electronics, and computer programming skills necessary for the repair of advanced equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and layout tools, including lasers and ultrasonic measuring devices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good manual dexterity and aptitude.
  • Strong reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills with peers and supervisors.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and company values.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Previous employment with Zachry Group.
  • Formal education or certification in construction, technical, or trade disciplines, such as NCCER Millwright Certification.
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to engage in prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Effective communication abilities, including speaking and hearing.
  • Capability to use hands for signaling, gripping, holding, turning, pushing, and pulling objects and tools.
  • May need to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work at heights and climb ladders, with adherence to fall protection standards.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Mandatory use of PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, high-visibility vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
Qualification Highlights
  • Experience in equipment maintenance is essential.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, and engineering specifications.
  • Understanding of technical manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Experience with industrial hand tools and power tools is required.
  • Possession of all necessary Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic hand tools.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of industrial maintenance experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic is necessary.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work as needed are essential.
