The Gas Skilled Laborer/Groundman is a key member of our crew, responsible for supporting the installation and repair of gas lines. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Gather materials and ensure the crew has everything required for the job.
- Distribute materials at the job site.
- Hand locate existing utilities.
- Hand grade landscape areas.
- Safely operate equipment, such as rubber-tired backhoes, skid steer loaders, and directional drills.
- Utilize equipment after the operator digs the ditch line for gas mains.
- Lift heavy natural gas pipelines for installation, when needed.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of gas utility construction experience.
- Preferred: 2 or more years of gas utility construction experience.
This job operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and standing. The role also involves working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
