Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $115,000 - $135,000, commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training. Our benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental health insurance, as well as a hybrid work schedule and paid vacation time.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Avionics Design Engineer to join our team. As an Avionics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing highly reliable electronics for our APEX 1.0 Spacecraft.

  • You will support hardware development and production through design, assembly, test & integration.
  • You will assist in developing test plans for flight qualification of avionics.
  • You will evaluate and develop Avionics system requirements.
  • You will drive component design and components selection as well as system verification testing, troubleshooting and requirement(s) closure.
  • You will collaborate with software, hardware, supply chain and integration teams throughout the development life cycle.
  • You will create and manage supplier procurement specifications and statements of work.
  • You will assure product and process quality by testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and developing manufacturing processes.
  • You will design Test Procedures for screening hardware against syst level requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • You must have a BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering or science. Relevant education and/or experience will be considered.
  • You should have at least 5 years of experience in avionics component and/or system design, development and testing.
  • You should be able to assure product and process quality by testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and developing manufacturing processes.
  • You should have experience with spacecraft and/or launch vehicle sensor architecture design.
  • You should have experience integrating hardware with software, and subsequent troubleshooting.
  • You should have experience developing test campaigns to validate component and/or system performance.
  • You should have a proven track record of leading design development from concept through fabrication, testing and integration.
  • You should be familiar with project management tools, including Atlassian.
  • You should have experience with circuit board design & design for manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • You should have proficiency in scripting languages and 3D CAD modeling software.
  • You should have experience with high voltage devices, lithium ion batteries, or power distribution optimization.
  • You should have design-for-integration experience.
  • You should have strong analysis skills, specifically to assess test results to validate system performance.
  • You should be competent in electrical test equipment to support test team on dev and flight campaigns.
  • You should have experience with common industry standards for spacecraft design and integration; including, but not limited to, NASA-STD-8739.4, NASA-HDBK-4001, NASA-STD-4003, SMC-S-010, & SMC-S-016.

  • You should be able to work in a fast-paced design and development environment.
  • Your schedule may vary depending on program development needs; flexibility required.
  • You should be willing to travel domestically and internationally as required.
