Job Overview

Core Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the department supervisor and an experienced senior technician, you will play a vital role in the precise setup of machinery. Your duties will include performing initial assessments of production components before returning the equipment to operators. The training period for this position may span from 6 to 12 months, during which you will acquire essential skills and become adept with various press machines. Strong communication abilities and a quick learning aptitude are crucial for success in this role.

Primary Duties:

  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, mechanical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Gain practical experience by working alongside seasoned technicians to learn the maintenance and repair of production machinery.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with assigned machinery and automated packaging systems.
  • Uphold high performance standards, focusing on minimizing downtime and enhancing production efficiency, product quality, and waste management.
  • Act as a mentor to junior technicians, providing technical guidance and sharing knowledge.
  • Assist in training new technicians while managing your own assigned tasks.
  • Develop proficiency in operating multiple machines within the designated area.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the company's machinery and operational processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Capability to follow instructions from senior technicians and team leaders.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently bend, carry, lift, push, pull, reach, stand for extended periods, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must navigate the entire manufacturing facility, which covers a substantial area.
  • Flexibility to work off-shifts, including overtime, sometimes with short notice.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, when operating or servicing machines.
  • Proficient reading and writing skills are required.
  • May need to obtain forklift certification as required by the company.
  • Must possess a personal set of standard hand tools.
  • Frequent interaction with various machinery, tools, and equipment is necessary.
  • Must be able to work in environments with potential exposure to hazards, including injuries to hands, arms, feet, or back.
  • Tolerance for continuous exposure to loud noise, dirt, and fumes within OSHA regulations.
