Job Overview

The Senior Materials Engineering Consultant specializes in advanced military materials, serving as a key technology leader in the field of materials science. The selected individual will engage with various business stakeholders to effectively manage and resolve intricate challenges within the military sector while promoting lean methodologies, particularly focusing on SQDC (Safety - Quality - Delivery - Cost).

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties
  • Work collaboratively with business leaders to formulate and implement strategies that address both current and future materials challenges in the military domain, maintaining a steadfast commitment to Safety and Quality.
  • Maintain regular communication with business leaders and key stakeholders to keep them informed about critical developments.
  • Ensure the existence and utilization of sound design practices, methodologies, and associated tools.
  • Promote the adoption of Lean culture and compliance with Lean principles, particularly SQDC.
  • Guide and mentor the technical community on trade-off analyses and methodologies to secure optimal lifecycle solutions.
  • Support the materials community in their career advancement and professional growth, actively participating in performance reviews and assessments.
  • Exemplify and mentor others in identifying, quantifying, and mitigating technical risks while assessing them against business risks.
  • Champion engineering excellence across the organization, including but not limited to Lean practices, documentation, TRL/MRL rigor, and FMEAs.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews, root cause analyses, industrial committees, and design boards to achieve business objectives.
  • Oversee intellectual property generation and review processes.
  • Share lessons learned across engineering divisions and other departments.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
