Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Signs and Markings Technician to join our team at the City of Denton, TX. As a key member of our Traffic Operations department, you will be responsible for manufacturing, installing, and maintaining all signs and pavement markings in the city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sign Installation and Maintenance: Install, repair, and replace signs/posts, ensuring they are properly secured and meet safety standards.
  • Pavement Marking Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain all raised pavement markers, thermoplastic/paint pavement markings, including long lines, stop bars, crosswalks, directional arrows, and school zones.
  • Sign and Pavement Marking Evaluation: Evaluate and determine sign and pavement marking needs in the field, ensuring compliance with the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Sign Manufacturing: Manufacture street signs and traffic control road signs, adhering to the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and City of Denton specifications.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily inspection, repair, and maintain all equipment, reporting any issues to the leader.
  • Interpretation of Engineering Drawings: Interpret engineering drawings for projects incorporating the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and existing field conditions.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including daily logs and reports.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Six (6) months' experience in sign and marking, outdoor construction, or related field.
  • Certifications: Must have and maintain a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level 1 Signs and Markings certification or obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Skills: Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, maintenance and usage of tools and equipment, basic problem-solving, and effective communication.
