Electrical Safety Director for Renewable Energy Projects

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Safety Manager to support electrical self-perform activities across the National Renewable Energy Business Unit. This role requires at least 5+ years of experience in managing safety on large commercial construction or Renewable Energy projects, with a preference for experience in Renewable Energy projects such as Battery Storage and Solar.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and communicate safety programs and efforts with on-site trade partners and McCarthy employees, ensuring a strong safety culture is embedded throughout the organization.
- Fully manage self-perform project teams and Safety Professionals to grow their skills and position them for future success.
- Implement business unit programs, initiatives, and visions across multiple projects, promoting collaboration and a positive safety culture among all stakeholders.
- Create and drive training topics or programs that benefit the business unit, enhancing employee knowledge and expertise.
- Conduct documented safety and health inspections over multiple projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with Project Supervision to ensure necessary protective equipment and safety materials are utilized, adequate first aid materials are available, and safety documents are posted on-site.
- Investigate all injuries and review accident reports, coordinating corrective measures with McCarthy employees and logging injuries/illnesses for OSHA purposes.
- Minimize construction hazards and enforce safety policies utilizing the company's disciplinary policy, promoting a safe working environment.
- Record and forward copies of all safety-related meetings, programs, safety pre-plans, inspections, correspondence, directives, citations, etc., to the Renewable Energy Safety Director for tracking.
- Review and audit Site Specific LOTO, controlled access, and energization plans for multiple projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Assist in developing task-specific work planning processes and auditing performance adherence.
- 5+ years' experience managing safety efforts on solar or energy-related projects with a focus on electrical scopes.
- Bilingual (English - Spanish) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or Journeyman Wireman License preferred.
- OSHA 500 and CHST certifications preferred.
- Current NFPA70e required.
- Ability to read and build plans around one-line drawings.
- Ability to manage/administer safety orientations, oversee substance abuse programs, investigate/report on injuries/illnesses/near misses, and perform other various safety functions on-site.
- Ability to work with all construction groups – management, owners, trade partners.
- Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel 75% nationwide.
We offer a competitive salary range of $105,000 - $115,000 for this role, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Please note that compensation may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations.
