Job Summary:

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital (WDH) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hospital Cleaning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily patient room cleaning, common area cleaning, and discharge cleaning, adhering to strict Infection Control guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in departmental functions, including general cleaning, linen room duties, waste and soiled linen removal, and project functions as assigned by department management.
  • Demonstrate competence in handling regulated medical waste, hazardous waste, chemo waste, soiled linen, and general waste, adhering to standards on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in the EVS Spill Team and/or Radiation Response Decontamination Team, demonstrating competence in strict Infection Control Guidelines and Standards.
  • Perform clean linen distribution, ordering, and record keeping, anticipating hospital linen needs and faxing daily orders in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Maintain EVS closets, cart, supplies, and equipment in a neat, clean, and organized manner, per department protocols.
  • Report unsafe, damaged, or broken equipment or surroundings to Plant Operations.
  • Demonstrate competence in strict Infection Control Guidelines and Standards as it pertains to hospital-defined sterile areas (e.g., Operating Room).
  • Perform special projects, including use and care of EVS floor care equipment, extracting, spotting, buffing, burnishing, stripping, and refinishing floors as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of housekeeping-related experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and comprehend English.
  • Proficient in basic computer knowledge, able to effectively access all programs needed for the job.
