We are seeking a skilled Coding Specialist to join our team at Beacon Health System. As a Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of medical coding practices.
Key Responsibilities- Review and accurately code office and hospital procedures for reimbursement, exercising initiative and judgment.
- Liaise with physicians and other parties to clarify information and ensure accurate coding.
- Analyze documentation and apply CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes to support compliant coding.
- Work with rejected and denied claims, assisting in complex denial resolution.
- Communicate updates on coding-related changes and billing opportunities to supervisors and providers.
- Assist providers with required documentation, compliant coding, and reimbursement.
- Monitor provider documentation for trends and adherence to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited medical coding program preferred.
- Two years of physician coding experience in an applicable specialty preferred.
- Designation as a Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based, Certified Professional Coder, Certified Medical Coder, or Certified Coding Associate required.
- Ability to complete a minimum of 12 hours of coding-related education per year to field of concentration.
This role requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including careful and constant review of records, code books, and continued use of computer equipment.
