Job Summary:
The Research Manager - Basic Science will oversee the planning, direction, and implementation of research studies using state-of-the-art volume electron microscopic approaches. This position will provide operational oversight of the basic science research and instrumentation, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and fostering research collaborations with the local academic community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations pertinent to laboratory safety and oversee the operation and administration of volume electron microscopy instrumentation.
- Act as liaison with local academic community to foster research collaborations and compile research and educational grant proposals with faculty.
- Manage basic science and anatomy laboratories, coordinate and instruct teaching laboratories for trainees, and teach research design and statistics.
- Conceptualize, design, and implement basic science research studies, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, commend, counsel, and recommend the termination of assigned employees.
- Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors, conduct molecular and histological experiments, and oversee lab organization.
- Assist with recruitment and staff supervision, help to plan, coordinate, and supervise research projects and lab experiments/procedures, and collect and analyze data.
- Prepare results for publication and supervise animal care personnel and volunteer research interns/students.
- Minimum requirement of Master's level; Doctoral credential preferred, with post-graduate research, teaching, and supervisory experience required.
- Must have competence in technical/scientific writing and problem-solving.
