Job Summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC - 661 is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Tree Care Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to tree pruning and removal, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, and vegetation management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Trim and/or remove trees, branches, and trunk sections.
  • Operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces.
  • Spray areas with equipment to prevent further growth.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Feed brush and debris into a woodchipper.
  • Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
  • Service gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment.
  • Relay hand signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment as assigned.
  • Keep trucks and work areas clear and orderly.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
  • Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
  • Request repair or replacement when necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
  • Perform other related work as assigned by superiors.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally and physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Must have good hand-to-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Entry-level position, no experience required.
  • Previous experience is a plus.

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
