Mortgage Loan Originator Job Summary

Fifth Third Bank, N.A. is seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for originating residential mortgage loans for outside referrals, meeting sales and cross-selling objectives, and assuming overall responsibility for the loan from application to closing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop referral contacts and maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guidelines.
  • Follow defined protocol for escalation exceptions and collect appropriate documentation from applicants.
  • Manage pipeline for all originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
  • Communicate with branches and/or applicants of providing timely updates and progress reports.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent mandatory. Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
  • Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • At least 2 years of mortgage lending experience and an established local book of referral sources.
  • Existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month.
