Job Overview

AFL is seeking a highly skilled Central Office Technician to join our team. As a key member of our ITC Service Group, you will be responsible for installing and repairing telecommunications equipment at client sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and decommission enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and repair data center hardware and networking infrastructure
• Rack and stack data center equipment, including servers, networking devices, and monitoring systems
• Install racks, cable, and power up servers, then hand off to internal provisioning teams
• Document activities and create/modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Decommission life cycle of data center hardware
• Manage inventory, order replacement parts, and return failed parts as required
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair structured cabling, labeling, and fiber/copper/telecom cables
• Install and troubleshoot system power supplies and cabling
• Ensure accuracy in the installation of all types of equipment
• Execute small projects independently and collaborate with managers on larger local projects

Qualifications

• Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware
• Excellent time management skills
• Valid US driver's license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Ability to see in color and work at heights
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Strong interest in learning new data center concepts
• Dependable and trustworthy
• Process-oriented
• Ability to lift 75 pounds
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions

• Proficient use of hand and power tools
• Prolonged standing and climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds
• Carrying loads up and down stairs and reaching/grasping
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination
• Heavy physical effort (lifting/moving up to 70 pounds)
• Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions, chemicals, and solvents
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards
• Use of standard office equipment
• General testing knowledge required
