Job Title: Resident Chef

Job Summary:

The Resident Chef is a key member of the Sur La Table team, responsible for driving business results while building a high-performing culinary team. This role requires a unique blend of culinary talent, business acumen, and teaching skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Experience: Inspire customers on their culinary journey, ensuring exceptional service standards are met.
  • Culinary Operations: Manage the complete kitchen operations, maintaining proper storage, prep, and service procedures, and ensuring sanitary conditions.
  • Team Development: Create an environment where employees are informed and capable, partnering with the General Manager to direct training for culinary employees.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the culinary program in the community, building relationships with local restaurants and developing new class content in partnership with the HQ Culinary team.
  • Performance Management: Maintain an active performance development process, providing coaching and performance feedback to employees, and conducting formal performance reviews.
  • Sales and Revenue: Analyze and measure retail and culinary business trends, developing and implementing plans to drive topline retail sales and culinary revenue.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 3-4 years of progressively responsible kitchen management experience, with experience as a Sur La Table Assistant Resident Chef preferred.
  • Culinary Degree: Culinary degree or equivalent Sous Chef experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Training and Communication: Proven ability to train others and hold teams accountable, with experience leading and coaching teams from varied specialties.
  • Leadership and Financial Management: Proven leadership and financial management skills, with experience managing inventory, controlling shrink, supply, and culinary expenses.
