About the Role

This is a full-time contractual position with the State of Maryland, Department of Human Services, Garrett County Department of Social Services.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Customer Care Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing intermediate-level administrative support, including data analysis, program administration, and report preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain, analyze, and interpret data to apply rules, regulations, and standards in accordance with laws.
  • Assist in the administration of assigned programs, including supervision of operational units and preparation of final reports.
  • Consult with program heads and administrative officials regarding policies, trends, and interpretation of data and program needs.
  • Research and compile data, as directed.
  • Prepare statistical tables, charts, and reports, work-flow charts, staffing patterns, and organizational charts.
  • Assist in planning and implementing new or revised programs, procedures, practices, and organizations.
  • Provide assistance to higher-level administrators in the formulation and preparation of agency budgets.
  • Ensure that work programs meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Coordinate and assume responsibility for tracking work program activities on data tracking systems.
  • Ensure agency compliance with Universal Engagement and Work Participation goals set by DHS and federal TANF legislation.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and retool programs as needed.
  • Monitor and adjust program expenditures to meet local and state compliance.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Benefits

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.
