Job Summary:

Covenant Health is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacists in the dispensing of medications and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical functions related to medication dispensing, including IV process proficiency and quality improvement involvement.
  • Prepare Total Parenteral Nutrition and/or chemotherapy admixtures under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Contribute to the quality aspects of the IV room, including cleaning and maintaining specialized equipment.
  • Calibrate auto mixers for TPN and establish and maintain par levels for necessary supplies.
  • Collect and analyze data for quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Assist pharmacists in training level I technicians and demonstrate knowledge and competency in providing age-specific care.
  • Verify floor stock and cart fill medications as directed by the pharmacist in charge.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • One year of experience or state-approved certification when available.
  • Expanded skills in TPN and/or chemotherapy compounding with corresponding math skills.
  • Licensure: The Tennessee Board of Pharmacy requires newly hired probationary employees to be licensed by the end of their first 90 days of hire and to maintain their Technician License in active status thereafter.
