Barry University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Academic Assistant to support the Graduate Biomedical Sciences faculty in their labs and provide tutoring services for students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students during lab sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Support instructors in setting up and cleaning up lab equipment, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Provide individualized tutoring sessions to students outside of lab hours, helping them to better understand complex concepts and improve their grades.
  • Proctor lab exams, ensuring the integrity and fairness of the assessment process.
  • Communicate effectively with students and prospective students through electronic means, providing timely and accurate information.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of graduate-level Human Physiology, Gross Anatomy, and Histology lecture and lab courses with an 'A' grade.
  • Experience working with Anatomage tables and basic knowledge of learning management systems such as Examsoft and Canvas.
