We are currently seeking experienced Substation Design Engineers to contribute to our projects supporting Electric Utility Clients. This role offers a blend of office, remote, and fieldwork opportunities within the Mid-Atlantic region, along with competitive benefits and career advancement prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Substation Design Engineer, your primary duties will include:
- Designing medium, high, and extra high voltage substations to ensure the safe and reliable operation of transmission and distribution systems aligned with Utility Client objectives.
- Reviewing and modifying specifications for substation equipment and materials, providing design solutions, and supporting both new construction and retrofit projects.
- Collaborating with peers in planning, project management, and site coordination to ensure timely completion of construction and reliability projects.
- Offering technical support to clients on-site, including conducting kickoff meetings, engineering reviews, and resolving complex issues throughout project execution.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in designing Utility T&D Substations, with oversight of design work.
- Training in Substation Safety Access.
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD 3D.
- Strong understanding of NESC, IEEE Substation, and High Voltage Equipment standards.
- Transmission Relaying Protection & Control Design.
- Substation Layout and General Arrangement.
- Preparation of Major Equipment Specifications and Bill of Materials.
- Design of Specifications and Control Houses.
- AC & DC Station Service Calculations.
- Substation Ground Grid Analysis and Design.
- Lightning Protection Design.
- Coordination with Environmental, Civil, Structural, and Mechanical Disciplines.
- Experience leading Feasibility Studies and conducting post-project reviews to identify challenges and propose improvements.
