Position Summary:
Proto is at the forefront of transforming the economy with products designed to enhance accessibility and independence. We are developing Bitkey, a user-friendly self-custody bitcoin wallet, alongside hardware and software aimed at decentralizing bitcoin mining. Our Bitcoin Products team is responsible for the product strategy, software, firmware, and custom silicon necessary to realize these ambitious projects.
Role Responsibilities:
- Design and release both rigid and flexible printed circuit boards for various bitcoin mining and wallet products.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and testing engineers to create robust hardware solutions.
- Develop and manage schematic, symbol, and footprint libraries, as well as design templates.
- Enhance and maintain our component library to ensure efficiency.
- Review components to ensure compliance with IPC, manufacturer, and company standards.
- Engage with fabrication and assembly vendors to optimize design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Coordinate with the internal ASIC design team to influence chip design and packaging for improved PCB layout.
Qualifications:
You should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in PCB design.
- Proficiency in the Altium CAD system, including library management and design release for high-volume manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret part specifications and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with eCAD database management.
- Knowledge of IPC guidelines and various PCB and FPC technologies.
- Understanding of schematics and basic electronics principles.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) practices and tools such as Agile or Arena.
Preferred Skills:
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:
- Experience with Altium Designer.
- Background in RF and high-speed PCB design with controlled impedances.
- Knowledge of high power and thermal design techniques.
- Hands-on experience in Electrical Engineering.
- Some familiarity with mechanical assembly and fabrication.
- Experience with PCB DFM for high-volume consumer products.
