The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered School Nurse to join our team. As a Registered School Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of students in our schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide preventive and screening services to students, including health education and assistance with decision-making about health.
- Assist schools in understanding and managing health issues for students, including the implementation of physician orders and following applicable laws and procedures.
- Consult with school staff, parents/guardians, and students regarding identified student health issues/concerns.
- Responsible for completing initial health assessments, initiating/revising plans of care, and initiating emergency care plans for students with chronic and/or acute health conditions.
- Serve as a consultant to school staff and parents/guardians, working collaboratively with the school health team to ensure that school staff are appropriately educated and trained to follow approved school health protocol.
- Act as a liaison between assigned schools, health department, healthcare providers, and other health agencies to coordinate care for students.
- Provide education and training to school staff and district LPNs on student health-related subjects/conditions.
- Provide nursing care for ill or injured students and refer students for health issues requiring a higher level of care.
- Assist schools with immunization requirements and health screenings for students.
- Holds a current license as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse preferred.
- School Nurses Certification-Louisiana Department of Education.
