Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
    • Collaborate with parents, students, behavioral staff, medical staff, and related services to develop and implement IEPs that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide Meaningful Instruction
    • Design and deliver age-appropriate instruction that incorporates adaptations and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Communicate Effectively
    • Communicate regularly with individuals, families, therapists, medical staff, and behavioral staff to foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
  • Collect and Analyze Data
    • Collect and analyze data on student progress and behavioral data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
  • Supervise and Evaluate Instructional Associates
    • Supervise and evaluate instructional associates who provide direct support services to students.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Experience
    • 1 year of experience in special education, preferably with autism and transition planning.
  • Certification
    • Maryland Teaching Certification in Special Education 1-8 or 6-adult.
  • Work Environment
    • Work in a community-based, non-public school setting with adolescents with autism.
