The Design Manager plays a crucial role in delivering efficient and economical design solutions that meet client scope and technical requirements. This remote role will support our ATG group, which includes Data Centers, EV, Industrial, Semi-Conductor, and Pharma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine the fundamental direction of design and lead the entire design team and design process from schematic design to completion.
  • Work closely with the Project Executive/Manager and perform a decisive leadership role.
  • Establish appropriate scopes and contractual agreements between Designers to deliver the project.
  • Communicate effectively between Designers, Construction teams, and client representatives.
  • Secure the design in all phases meets contractual obligations through review and approval of all construction and shop drawings generated by design partners and subcontractors.
  • Manage timely delivery of all design documents.
  • Generate and coordinate relevant subcontractor contractual language relating to design.
  • Initiate design reviews and leverage opportunities to optimize design, improve constructability, and detect risks.
  • Understand and utilize lean aspects to minimize costs and speed up design preparation, striving to create designs that are delivered more efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited and credentialed degree program in Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in Engineering or Design Project Management, including Construction Administration portion of Engineering and Design Management or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Previous industry experience as a Designer is desired.
  • Extensive Designing and Estimating experience.
  • Ability to think in a highly structured manner along all design disciplines with creativity to develop specialized solutions and anticipate potential challenges and opportunities.
  • Cross-functional knowledge of key engineering disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP/HVAC, etc.) and relevant trades.
  • Must be integrative, involving Design Specialists and experts, consultancy, and support.
  • Enjoy working in a professional interdisciplinary team environment while maintaining an independent and professional design view.
  • Leadership skills to lead large teams and achieve goals.
