Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to serve as the Chief Pharmacist for our institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the pharmacy team and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and provide a comprehensive pharmacy program, including dispensing, pharmaceutical care, clinical and community relations, and accreditation compliance.
  • Supervise and direct subordinate staff, including staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Ensure the integrity of all medications, including proper packaging and labeling.
  • Manage the institution's pharmaceutical budget and ensure national contract compliance.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities regarding medications.
  • Develop and implement Drug Usage Evaluations (DUEs).
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least one year of professional pharmacy experience, including experience in planning and providing a comprehensive pharmacy program and supervising subordinate staff.
Working Conditions

The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency and must be able to distinguish basic colors.

The Core Value Assessment (CVA) is an in-person assessment that must be facilitated at a Bureau of Prisons Human Resource Servicing office. On the day of the scheduled interview, a CVA will be administered. The applicant assessment must be completed within a 70 minute time period and a passing score of 68 must be obtained.

Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques", three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.
