ROLE SUMMARY

The Shift Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager with the daily operations of the retail establishment.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

This role typically necessitates working regular weekends, holidays, and evening hours customary to the retail environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service to patrons and donors in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Enhancing the processing of donated goods through effective sorting, preparation, and pricing techniques to consistently meet or exceed production targets.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe store environment, ensuring that health and safety protocols are adhered to by all employees.
  • Assisting in unloading deliveries and sorting newly received items.
  • Supporting the Store Manager in training new staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring operational efficiency in production areas.
  • Adhering to cash handling and security protocols, including daily register closeout and nightly deposits.
  • Overseeing store operations in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager, which includes opening and closing procedures, directing staff activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Maintaining accurate store records as required.
  • Reporting any suspicions or allegations of fraud immediately.
  • Complying with all relevant policies and procedures.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

The employee may be required to perform banking transactions essential to store operations and must have reliable transportation for travel to and from the bank.

As part of the Alarm Responder Roster, the employee must respond to alarm notifications outside of regular business hours and follow established procedures for such incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Effective communication skills with customers and colleagues are essential. Basic mathematical skills are required for handling transactions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and handle standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be capable of delegating tasks effectively and demonstrating a high level of integrity and business ethics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires regular standing, walking, and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 100 pounds. Employees must be able to assist customers with heavy items and maintain safety standards while performing these tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is typically fast-paced with regular deadlines. Employees may encounter various conditions, including wet or humid environments and exposure to moving mechanical parts.
