Job Summary

Spaulding Hospital-Boston & Cambridge(SRN,SRH,SHC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist Per Diem to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ultrasound procedures, selecting proper imaging techniques, and providing high-quality images for diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and verify patient identification, prepare patients for exams, and obtain relevant patient history.
  • Explain exams to patients, maintaining ethical standards and delivering patient care under the scope of your license and training.
  • Utilize universal precaution techniques and safety protocols specific to patient status.
  • Perform ultrasound studies on pediatric patients, demonstrating knowledge of illnesses related to this population and various types of care provided.
  • Maintain effective working relations and communication with departmental and hospital personnel.
  • Execute paperwork, PACS, RIS, EPIC, and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam.
  • Prepare equipment, rooms, and supplies for each patient and regular daily use, stocking and supplying rooms and department areas as needed.
  • May oversee and instruct personnel and technology students within the department.
  • Participate in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  • Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible in shift coverage and overtime situations.
  • Stay up-to-date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment, participating in education programs and meeting state and national requirements for continuing educational credits.
  • Transport and transfer patients using established procedures.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure in various situations when performing patient exams.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Graduation from an AMA-accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
  • Meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification or equivalent.
  • Become registered in all institution-accredited specialties, with additional specialties as required by the accreditation agency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills using the English language.
  • High level of service delivery, with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Problem-solving skills for treatment planning and execution, considering patient age, psychosocial, and cultural background.
  • Computer proficiency, with Microsoft Office applications preferred and ability to learn new software.
Skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in the English language to understand and exchange information with patients and hospital staff.
  • Manual dexterity to adjust machine controls, arrange, attach, and adjust supportive devices.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and ultrasound equipment.
  • Ability to obtain satisfactory images by following set procedures and standards.
