Job Summary

As a Rapid Response Technician with the University of New Mexico - Hospitals, you will play a critical role in providing direct patient care under the guidelines and protocols provided by the UNMH Rapid Response Medical Director. Your primary responsibility will be to identify patients who require a higher level of care and implement that care to reduce mortality in the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency situations across the hospital complex, working in conjunction with Rapid Response Paramedics to provide essential rapid communication and patient care advocacy.
  • Transport patients to and from UNMH, utilizing ILS measures to ensure patient and provider safety, and perform patient assessment and provide necessary interventions.
  • Provide Basic life support up to advanced life support, including defibrillation, medication administration, and other skills as required.
  • Perform patient care, work with RRT Paramedic to stabilize patients and guide care until providers arrive, and document all patient care activities.
  • Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, topical application, sublingual and intravenous administration of medications, and provide for nebulized drug administration.
Requirements
  • Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate License
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License
  • UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days
  • UNMH basic arrhythmia course within 3 months of position
  • CEVO Course within 3 months of position
  • Ultrasound guided IV course within 3 months of position
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months
  • PALS within 6 months of position
  • DOT Medical Certification within 60 days of position
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to physical risk, chemicals, and biohazardous materials. You will be required to drive on and off UNMH grounds and may be subject to random alcohol and substance testing.
