Fitness Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to join our team at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Sonnentag Center. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for designing and teaching fitness workouts to a group of participants with varying fitness levels and abilities.

• Design and teach effective and creative group fitness classes
• Demonstrate proper exercise form and educate participants on form and alternative exercises during class
• Provide quality customer service to all participants in class, regardless of fitness level, appearance, or otherwise
• Ensure studios are set up before and cleaned up after class
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and follow and enforce all program and facility policies
• Respond and assist as needed during emergencies
• Attend staff meetings, in-services, and trainings
• Promote fitness programs and services

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
• Current ACE, AFAA, ACSM certification
• Specialty certifications required to teach specialty classes such as yoga, group cycling, pilates, etc.
• Ability to work independently and build relationships with a variety of people
• Proficiency with audio/visual equipment

The Fitness Instructor will work in a fitness environment with moderate to loud noise. The position requires the ability to perform fitness activity for the duration of class, which may include standing, walking, dancing, lifting, and kneeling. The Fitness Instructor must also be able to lift, move, and set up items weighing 50 lbs.
