Job Summary

The Pathologists Assistant II is a highly skilled allied health professional who provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist. This position requires a strong foundation in biological sciences and a proven track record of working in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform gross examination of surgical pathology specimens to assist pathologists in diagnosing diseases.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency of the laboratory or pathology practice by performing a variety of tasks, including specimen processing, tissue preparation, and quality control.
  • Interact with pathologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, protocols, and regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advances in anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in biological or allied health science from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Two years of experience as a Pathologists Assistant or in a related field.
  • Certification: Current certification as a Pathologists Assistant from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
