Job Summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a per diem/prn float respiratory therapist to support our healthcare team in various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy services to patients in critical and non-critical care venues, utilizing specialized ventilators and equipment.
  • Administer medication treatments and therapies as prescribed by physicians, and educate patients on purpose, technique, self-care, and disease management.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshoot issues, and identify the need for service and/or repair.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients, and facilitate clinical problem-solving.
  • Under physician direction, adapt and comply with policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and physicians, and provide clear, concise, timely, and accurate patient handoff.
  • Promote a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm, and report patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months, or active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2019.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree.
