Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Summit Health Inc. as a Radiologic Technologist III. This is a per diem position that requires the ability to work independently and make sound judgments in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and assist patients for CAT scan procedures, ensuring proper exam protocols are followed and patient orders are reviewed in advance.
- Educate patients on procedures, including contrast material administration and potential contraindications and adverse effects.
- Set up CAT scan equipment and apparatus, selecting appropriate protocols and techniques for prescribed procedures.
- Obtain high-quality CAT scan images through proper anatomical positioning, slice thickness, and other required techniques.
- Instruct patients on pre- and post-scan instructions, including breathing instructions during the scan.
- Obtain essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
- Prepare intravenous contrast media and operate Radiographic or Bone Density equipment for diagnostic quality imaging.
- Follow safety procedures, including universal precautions, and verify proper patient identification on studies.
- Process studies onto CD for patient requests while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Ensure ALARA and Image Gently guidelines are followed.
- Maintain a daily log of patients seen and ensure cleanliness of equipment and working area.
- Maintain familiarity with emergency drugs and equipment locations, and practice sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination.
- Stay up-to-date with human anatomy, cross-section anatomy, and proper positioning skills, as well as protocols and scanning techniques.
- Maintain familiarity with departmental systems, including booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS.
- Participate in continuing education requirements and maintain professional and technical knowledge.
- Provide excellent service to patients, relatives, and other members of the organization.
- Promote and follow organizational policies, rules, and regulations.
- Perform related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Assist in medical emergencies and maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- New York State and/or Connecticut License and ARRT Certification with BD and CT modalities.
- Maintain superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Excellent patient and people skills, with the ability to communicate urgent findings with radiologists.
- Proper positioning skills and utilization of protocols and scanning techniques.
- High knowledge of routine procedures and applications.
- Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
