Job Summary

The City of Wenatchee, WA is seeking a highly skilled Utility Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of labor duties in a safe and efficient manner. This includes operating and maintaining various equipment and hand tools, adhering to established safety procedures, and working closely with contractors and engineers on utility projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform excavation of holes and trenches up to 12 feet deep, installation and repair of water service lines, fire hydrants, fire lines, meters and meter chambers, and water mains and main line valves.
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including eductor trucks, boom trucks, dump trucks, excavators, graders, backhoes, loaders, roto hammers, jack hammers, tapping machines, torque wrenches, power cutoff saws, compactors, gas-powered water pumps, and air compressors.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and perform cleanup tasks throughout the shift.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience working for a water utility or in the construction field with substantial experience in installation of water, sewer, storm, and irrigation mains, fire hydrants, and service lines.
  • Current WA State Class A CDL (tanker endorsement/air brake restrictions removed).
  • WA State Department of Health Water Distribution Manager (WDM) - Operator-in-Training (OIT) Certification.
