Job Description

Bowhead is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Government portfolio, you will play a crucial role in assisting our systems engineering team in software design, development, testing, and technical specification development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Software Engineering: Apply software engineering principles to analyze and problem-solve, implement processes, establish, and update roadmaps for IT systems.
  • Project Management: Work with the Program Management Office (PMO) to develop plans and tactics for project execution.
  • Technical Specifications: Generate technical specifications and work with software development teams to establish and update program backlogs.
  • Testing: Design and develop test cases, demonstrate test case traceability to system requirements, and analyze existing systems to provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Documentation: Support development of project documentation and briefs, monitor system performance, and perform predictive maintenance.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in project team meetings, technical exchanges, and other reviews, assist in conducting technical reviews, and support technical troubleshooting efforts.
Requirements:
  • Education: BA/BS Degree in a technical or engineering field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing software development, including design, debugging, and troubleshooting, and two plus (2+) years operating in a DoD IT environment.
  • Skills: Familiarity with the RMF process, DevSecOps, information systems security, and Agile software development methodologies, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to lead discussions, meetings, and technical exchanges.
  • Certifications: Security + Certification (IAT Level 2 or higher).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience: Three plus (3+) years of experience performing risk management, configuration management, testing, and requirements management.

Security Clearance: Successfully pass a T1 investigation. US Citizenship is required.
