Position Overview:

The Material Handling Operator is responsible for a variety of tasks that may include retrieving raw materials from storage, ensuring the department is supplied with sheet metal for production machines, organizing pallets throughout the facility, managing scrap metal disposal, and maintaining overall cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the continuous operation of machinery by ensuring they are well-stocked.
  • Process orders by fulfilling requests and supply orders; retrieve necessary materials.
  • Sort and arrange materials or items on shelves, racks, or bins in accordance with established organizational standards.
  • Return surplus materials to storage.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by documenting stock location orders and tracking the amounts of materials received or distributed. Assist in physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Ensure a safe and tidy work environment by keeping workstations, pallet areas, and shelves organized; perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping and dusting.
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Adhere to Job Safety Analysis protocols relevant to this role.
  • Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and documentation practices.
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a warehouse setting is advantageous.
  • Proficient communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Dependable and trustworthy.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, equipment maintenance, data entry, and computer skills may be necessary.
  • Forklift operation experience is essential.
