Job Summary:

As a Certified Nursing Assistant at CHRISTUS Health, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in our fast-paced medical-surgical unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with routine and repetitive patient care activities, perform specific clerical and organizational tasks, and provide supportive patient-focused care. Our unit focuses on GI care, and you will have the opportunity to work with patients who have a range of conditions, including non-surgical abdominal pain, cirrhosis, and upper and lower GI bleeds.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Complete pertinent documents and prepare rooms for admission
  • Transport patients safely and maintain security and confidentiality
  • Clean and procure equipment and supplies
  • Run errands for the unit as required
  • Assist licensed personnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment
  • Perform unit-specific patient care tasks and document on the flowsheet
  • Identify and report changes in patient condition to the nurse in charge
  • Assist with ordering and maintenance of stock items
  • Keep unit supplies organized and respond to emergencies
  • Communicate effectively with team members and respond to phone calls and patient call lights

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred
  • CNA License in state of employment required
  • BLS required
