Job Summary

The ICU Relief Nurse will provide collaborative nursing care to a caseload of patients for an assigned shift in accordance with the medical staff practitioner's treatment plan, nursing standards of care/practice, and professional code of ethics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Render nursing care to patients in accordance with the defined department Method of Practice.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team in the coordination of patient care.
  • Delegate and direct assigned shift caseload team, which may include LVNs and CNAs.
  • Assume responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources.
  • Develop and implement effective nursing care plans.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a School of Nursing.
  • Current California State License as a Registered Nurse.
  • BSN/BA preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of one year current ICU experience.
  • BLS and ACLS required within one month of hire and on-going.
  • PALS required within six months of hire and on-going.
  • Ability to understand, read, and write English clearly.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to instruct/comfort patients/families and maintain effective communication/contact with healthcare team members.
  • Analytical skills necessary to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans.
Technical Requirements
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Intranet.
  • Ability to learn computer software programs applicable to patient care and operations process.
Work Schedule

12 hour shifts, Night, Full time.
