Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for administering anesthesia under the guidance of the Attending Anesthesiologist. This includes delivering local, inhalation, intravenous, and other anesthetics as prescribed during surgical procedures, deliveries, or other medical interventions. The CRNA is also tasked with implementing resuscitative measures throughout the facility, including in recovery areas, and must be readily available during duty hours.
*This role is eligible for a commitment incentive of up to $150,000 and relocation incentives up to $10,000*
The position operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, utilizing the ACT practice model. There are opportunities for expanded responsibilities, including regional anesthesia, with training provided. On-call duties are required, covering OR, OB, and Endoscopy, with a post-call day off.
Shifts may vary, including options of 7-3, 7-5, and 7-7. The case mix encompasses a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, robotics, orthopedics, urology, vascular, gynecology, obstetrics, neurosurgery, ENT, pediatrics, dental, oral maxillofacial, ophthalmology, and plastics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations, including necessary laboratory and diagnostic assessments, while establishing rapport with patients and anticipating their needs.
2. Prepare thoroughly for case management by organizing essential equipment and ensuring readiness for safe anesthesia administration. This includes preparing patients by explaining procedures and positioning them appropriately.
3. Formulate a systematic anesthetic management plan based on thorough assessments and anticipated procedures, while recognizing potential patient challenges.
4. Exhibit professional proficiency in administering and managing various anesthetic techniques, including regional anesthesia, sedation, and airway management, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
5. Maintain accurate records and coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care throughout the surgical process.
6. Oversee post-anesthesia care, including discharge processes and handoff reporting, while documenting all nursing actions appropriately.
7. Mentor and evaluate new CRNAs and nurse anesthesia students as directed.
8. Engage in continuous education and professional development to meet regulatory standards and stay current with industry trends.
9. Respond effectively in emergency situations, maintaining a calm demeanor and good judgment.
10. Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership promptly.
11. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and departmental committees as assigned.
12. Foster a safe and clean working environment, promoting high standards of customer service and teamwork.
13. Ensure the delivery of culturally sensitive and ethical care, applying knowledge of standard precautions and utilizing PPE to minimize exposure risks.
14. Manage material resources and equipment responsibly.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program is required.
Licensure/Certification:
• Current CRNA certification by the AANA.
• Active Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a CRNA is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail and patience when interacting with patients.
• Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and patients, including those with limitations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and work under stress.
• Proficient in using Epic and adaptable to new software.
