Job Summary:

As a Certified Surgical Technologist at Christus Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety in the Operating Room. Under the direction of a professional nurse, you will assist in the delivery of direct patient care and support the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a sterile field, passing instruments and sutures to the physician as directed.
  • Assist in team planning and execution, demonstrating clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Maintain proper traffic control, dress codes, and adherence to OR sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Familiarize yourself with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
  • Adapt patient care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient, including physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program required.
  • 2 or more years of experience preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
