Experienced Advanced Practice Clinician

EPPA is a physician-owned and led group in Minnesota, recognized for its commitment to providing exceptional emergency care for over 50 years. We offer two tracks for our Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs): one for those coming out of training programs and another for experienced emergency medicine APCs.
Position SummaryExperienced EPPA Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary team providing excellence in emergency medical care in various treatment areas, including the Emergency Department, Fast Track, and The Urgency Room. APCs coordinate care with consultant services, recommend follow-up care, facilitate referrals, and participate in continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Provide healthcare services to patients under physician supervision
- Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical examinations
- Compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations
- Administer or order diagnostic tests, interpret test results, and perform therapeutic procedures
- Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care
- Prescribe, administer, and dispense drugs, controlled substances, and medical devices
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
- Create and maintain patient records
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, co-workers, and other medical professionals
- 1+ years of experience working as an APC in a tertiary, high-volume hospital emergency department
- Completion of an accredited physician assistant or nursing practitioner program
- Current licensure with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice or Minnesota Board of Nursing
- Current ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certification
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of professionalism, responsibility, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
APCs work in a hospital emergency department and acute care clinic, requiring long periods of sitting and standing, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. The environment includes work with a diverse group of patients with various degrees of illness. APCs are supervised by and work with several group physicians to provide care to patients. Schedules can vary according to practice setting, but may include days, nights, and weekends.
