Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Nurse provides specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. This role is responsible for delivering compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and ThedaCare policy.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess patient needs and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
- Plan for patient care needs in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide high-quality care and clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in the provision of care in the assigned clinical specialty and perform all functions of the professional clinical nurse (RN), which are age-appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific.
- Identify ways to improve patient experience, streamline care processes, and lower costs while promoting quality to improve patient, family, and team member satisfaction.
- Contribute to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians.
- Provide consultation and maintain positive relationships with physicians and other interprofessional team members, collaborating to problem-solve and improve patient care.
- Demonstrate, anticipate, and proactively manage risk to prevent crises.
- Current Wisconsin RN licensure
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commitment to obtain within five years. Associate's Degree in Nursing accepted in lieu of BSN for those hired prior to 1/23/17.
The RN Clinical Nurse must be able to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance. The job classification is exposed to blood-borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties.
Work EnvironmentThe RN Clinical Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock may occur. Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time is required, as well as transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another.
