Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team at VS Servicer at Fishkill LLC. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a critical role in supporting the health and nutrition of our residents by assisting with food preparation services while upholding strict sanitation and safe handling procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves Meals: Prepare and serve meals that meet established portion control procedures and therapeutic diets.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, including work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, and sweep/mop floors as directed.
  • Food Handling: Operate dish machine using proper sanitizing and safety techniques, and wash and clean utensils as directed.
  • Inventory Management: Place groceries, meats, and supply items in appropriate storage areas as directed.
  • Food Safety: Follow all safety regulations, infection control/universal precautions, and food safety regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Utilize and maintain all equipment appropriately, including dish machine, coffee urn, refrigerators, mixers, blender, and toaster.
  • Reporting: Report all hazardous conditions/equipment and accident/incidents to shift supervisor.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and portion food items such as desserts, salads, juices, coffee, and nourishments.
  • Inventory and Storage: Assist in inventory and proper storing of foods, supplies, etc. as directed.
  • Temperature Control: Accurately take and record temperatures of food, beverages, and equipment as directed.
  • Customer Service: Provide cleaning and busing of tables in dining rooms as instructed, in a courteous manner.
  • Resident Care: Make efforts to ensure that patient/resident's needs and preferences are accommodated.
  • Teamwork: Cooperate and embrace change, implement new procedures as directed, and actively seek new ways to contribute to the team to improve the department's performance.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain resident rights, HIPAA privacy, security, and confidentiality standards.
  • Compliance: Follow all established policies and procedures, including universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques, and Corporate Compliance standards.
  • Quality Improvement: Contribute to facility Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Safety: Follow safety procedures by keeping areas free of hazardous conditions.
  • Supply Management: Economical and careful with supplies and equipment.
  • Punctuality: Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
  • Professionalism: Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate, assist, and cooperate with other personnel and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Leadership: Act as a source of direction to visitors, staff, and external populations.
  • Representation: Represent the organization professionally.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Interact positively with residents, family members, and visitors under a variety of conditions and circumstances.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum some food service experience required.
  • Skills: Previous dietary experience preferred, high degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene required, health status suitable for food service required.
  • Abilities: Ability to read and understand work assignments, as well as report verbally and provide written documentation as necessary.
  • Qualities: Respect for residents' privacy and rights, display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly, qualities of responsibility, diplomacy, and ability to work well with fellow staff members.
  • Physical Demands: Physical endurance for frequent activity.
