Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at North Carolina Specialty Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and Setup: Prepare and set up the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in good working order.
  • Scrub Role: Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field and adhering to aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
  • Equipment and Supply Management: Locate and operate equipment, handle and maintain equipment properly, and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Preference Cards and Documentation: Implement and maintain preference cards, utilizing automated processes and clinical information systems to ensure accurate and efficient documentation.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure quality patient care.
  • Adherence to Hospital Policies: Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including guidelines for appropriate conduct, corporate compliance, diversity, and confidentiality.

Requirements:

  • Education and Qualifications: Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology or equivalent clinical surgery training/experience.
  • Experience: One to three years of previous surgery experience in at least two specialty areas preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS certification through an accredited AHA or ARC program; Certified Surgical Technician preferred.
  • Skills: Effective communication skills, computer skills, and ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
