About the Role

Solar Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our Commercial Solar Construction Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving PV design activities and ensuring seamless system sales transitions to high-quality installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with sales teams to transition customer contracts to system designs, including complete electrical schematics, mechanical designs, and permitting packages.
  • Produce commercial and utility project proposals, including modeling of energy output.
  • Ensure compliant design by following National Electric Code (NEC) guidelines.
  • Generate design drawings for commercial projects, including permits, utility interconnection, and installation.
  • Support client PV system monitoring, reporting, and corrective action processes.
  • Oversee specification and review of all commercial install team job bills of materials.
  • Lead design and production of all commercial project submittal and training materials.
  • Provide technical support to key clients.
  • Support residential design team on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise complex parallel project activities.
  • Familiarity with CAD design software, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Ability to learn and utilize HelioScope, Energy Toolbase, and PVSyst solar design software.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer-facing written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with key PV systems components, their function, and key operating criteria.
  • Familiarity with 3-phase commercial and industrial electrical services.
  • Willingness to participate in PV install projects on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to learn site and electrical survey skills for project proposal preparation.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Valid clean driver's license and ability to pass a 10-year background check and drug screening.
