Position Summary: The Facilities Maintenance and Grounds Specialist is tasked with executing essential duties that ensure both the upkeep of outdoor areas and the cleanliness of indoor facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct grounds upkeep tasks according to established schedules and standards, which include:
- Mowing all landscaped areas to maintain an attractive appearance.
- Edging sidewalks, driveways, and other hard surfaces.
- Trimming areas that are inaccessible to mowing equipment.
- Removing litter and natural debris to keep the grounds tidy.
- Maintaining a professional and neat appearance of the grounds.
- Managing desert landscaping to ensure cleanliness.
- Implementing weed control measures.
- Follow directions and maintain open communication with supervisors and team members.
- Accept and complete special projects as assigned by management.
- Utilize tools and equipment effectively, including weed eaters, edgers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and blowers.
- Perform cleaning duties in restrooms, including sweeping and mopping tile floors.
- Clean entrance and building windows, including interior and exterior surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.
- Dust surfaces and perform outdoor litter collection.
- Conduct high dusting monthly, including window blinds and other elevated surfaces.
- Restock paper and soap products in restrooms, and replace deodorizers and batteries as necessary.
- Vacuum carpeted areas regularly.
- Execute additional cleaning tasks as required.
- Assist the public when necessary.
- Maintain floors on a regular basis.
- Perform advanced floor maintenance as needed.
- Ensure a clean and orderly facility.
- Oversee restroom cleanliness.
- Keep equipment in a clean and functional state.
Additional Responsibilities: Other job-related tasks may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED; willingness to learn necessary tasks for custodial and grounds maintenance work.
Experience: Preferred experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license required.
Other Requirements: Candidates must undergo a driver's license record check and pass a background screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bilingual skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to assist the public as needed.
- Capability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Compensation: $15.50 per hour
Pay Grade: OP-1
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 7am-5pm
